How You Can Get More Repeat & Referral Business

Creekmore Marketing • 25 September 2019

Repeat and referral customers are a huge part of your business, but they can often get overlooked in favor of new leads. Even most digital and print marketing efforts focus on bringing new customers in the door while basically ignoring previous customers or those your previous customers have referred to you. Luckily, there are ways to bring these lead sources back to you without sacrificing the new leads you want.

Email marketing is a great way to capitalize on repeat business. You have to have an existing list of subscribers to run a successful email marketing campaign (meaning you can't just buy an email list), and there are tons of ways to personalize your emails to get the best return. On average the ROI for email marketing is $44 for every $1 spent. In fact, one of our customers spent $200 with us and received a $10,000 lead, which by itself is a $50:1 ratio. Email marketing helps keep your name in front of existing customers and gives you a platform to incentivize them to return to you.

Following up quickly and putting your best foot forward may seem like no-brainers, but you'd be surprised how many companies struggle with this. On average, businesses take nearly 47 hours to respond to a lead, which, quite frankly, is a little crazy. How often when you're looking for something will you wait 2 days for someone to call you back? The faster you can follow up, the more likely you are to get the business, and as long as the experience is good, that customer will be more likely to refer their family and friends to you. One of our clients was approached by a realtor in his area and initially missed the call, however, he followed up almost immediately. Because of his quick response, not only did he get a $10,000 job putting window treatments into the realtor's home, but that realtor is now going to use our client for all of the new homes being built that he is in charge of selling.
